Diples are considered a traditional sweet in Kalamata. It is dough rolled into thin strips, fried in olive oil and then dipped in syrup. We gine them at engagements, weddings, christenings. They are delicious, but quite labour intensive.

Koulourakia are lightly sweetened strands of dough, twisted together in various shapes. These ones are crunchy on the outside, but very soft on the inside. A delicious recipe from my Grandma Stella. She makes them every Easter.
